Alaska Zoo

Earthquake Park
In March of 1964, a massive 9.2 earthquake hit an affluent residential section of Anchorage, Alaska. All the homes were sent crashing into 30-foot crevasses, completely decimating the area. Juneau Ice field
Located in the Coast Mountain Range, the Juneau Ice field is the fifth largest icefield in North America. It covers more than 1,500 square miles of land, stretching almost 85 miles from north to south and 45 from miles east to west. The Juneau Ice field feeds 38 large glaciers, including the Mendenhall. Mendenhall Glacier
Situated just north of Juneau in the Juneau Ice field, the Mendenhall Glacier has been feeding into MendenhallLake for almost 250 years. The water from its terminus travels 13 miles.
