Idaho Tourist Attraction
Travel to Idaho and you’ll have ample opportunities to explore exceptionally fun things to do and unusual places to visit. Stop by the Old Idaho Penitentiary, a prison from 1870 that’s now the site of several museums and an arboretum. Boise State University
A public university, BoiseState was founded in 1932 by the Episcopal Church. However, two years later, it went its own way and has been independent every since. U.S. News & World Report placed BoiseState, which offers more than 200 degrees, among the top 100 regional universities in the Western United States. Almost 19,000 students attend BoiseState, making it Idaho’s largest institution of higher learning. [top]
Boise River Greenbelt
Its official name is the Boise River Greenbelt Distance & Orientation Trail System. However, everyone knows it as the Boise River Greenbelt, a long bicycle and jogging trail that runs through Boise, Idaho, connecting many of the city’s parks. The Greenbelt is about 16 miles long and travels from Lucky Peak Reservoir to just past the Western Idaho Fairgrounds. [top]
Old Idaho Penitentiary
A state historic site, the Old Idaho Penitentiary got its start as a single cell prison in 1870 and grew to several buildings over the years. Just a little over a century after it was built, the prison was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, it’s the home of several museums and an arboretum. [top]

Idaho Botanical Garden
Sitting on 50 acres in Boise, Idaho, the IdahoBotanical Garden served as the farm and nursery for Old Idaho Penitentiary until 1973. It was until 10 years after the penitentiary closed that the gardens came into being.
