Oregon Historic Trail
You’ll be hard-pressed to find a more beautiful drive than the one afforded by the Historic Oregon Trail. Those who forged this trail in the mid-1800s had their work cut out for them. All you need to do is follow a self-guided tour brochure that includes 40 historic and scenic stops that begin on Oregon’s eastern border to its end point in Oregon City. [top]
Klamath Lake
At 30 miles long and eight miles wide, Klamath Lake is a freshwater lake near the Cascade Range and Klamath Falls, Oregon. There’s no body of water larger west of the Rocky Mountains. Fly fishermen will be very excited to know that part of the lake is chock full of rainbow trout. There are many canoeing and kayaking trails where you’ll be able to sight otters as well as waterfowl. Devils Lake State Recreation Area
Located near Lincoln City, Oregon, Devils Lake State Recreation Area is an ideal place to visit for canoeing, kayaking, boating, swimming, and water skiing. Keep your eyes open as there’s a lot of wildlife. You’ll have a chance to see everything from coots, loons, and ducks to bald eagles and grebes. There’s also a campground, the only one found on the Oregon coast in a city. [top]
Cook Park
Covering 79 acres, Cook Park in Portland, Oregon is situated on the banks of the Tualatin River. Recreational opportunities abound. There are a couple of Little League baseball fields, three soccer fields, two softball fields, two volleyball courts, one basketball court, horseshoe pits, and walking and jogging trails. Oregon Zoo
Don’t miss a chance to see the extraordinary animals at the Oregon Zoo in Portland. You’ll discover many fine exhibits. Black Bear Ridge features black bears and bobcats.
