Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington, Texas near Dallas has it all. There are rides galore, from the thrill to the family variety. Plus, you’ll encounter a Texas-size helping of attractions, live concerts, and special events all season long. Reliant Stadium

The home field for the Houston Texans of the National Football League, Reliant Stadium is the only NFL stadium that boasts natural grass and a retractable roof. In addition to the gridiron game, the stadium also hosts the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Minute Maid Park

Minute Maid Park in downtown Houston, Texas is where the Houston Astros play their National League baseball home games. The ballpark, which opened in 2000, is very similar to many of today’s new baseball-only stadiums that offer an old-time feel with contemporary extras. Minute Maid Park is a breath of fresh air from the team’s former stadium, the Houston Astrodome, especially since there’s a retractable roof. [top]

Texas State Fair

Based on attendance, the Texas State Fair in Dallas is America’s largest. The annual event, which lasts nearly a month, begins the last Friday in September and is held at historic Fair Park. Highlights include Big Tex, a 52-foot cowboy, the annual Texas-Oklahoma college football game, and the massive auto show that covers more than 300,000 square feet of new cars. [top]

Cowboys Stadium

Texas Stadium gave way to Cowboys Stadium in 2009. The home of the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League, Cowboys Stadium has a retractable roof and seats for 80,000 fans, which makes it the NFL’s third largest stadium. The maximum number of people it can hold is 110,000 (with standing room). As domed stadiums go, it’s the world’s largest. [top]

Dallas Convention Center

Located in downtown Dallas, Texas, the Dallas Convention Center delivers more than 1,000,000 square feet of space for meetings, conventions, and trade shows. The largest room measures over 726,000 square feet of contiguous space. Other features include the 9,816-seat Dallas Memorial Auditorium, a 1,740-seat theater, 105 meeting rooms, and two enormous ballrooms. [top]

Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park

Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park in Fredericksburg, Texas is quite versatile. There’s a softball field with lights, a baseball field, and one practice field. A creek is available for fishing and boating (though only boats without motors). What’s more, there’s an 18-hole, par-72, championship golf course with driving range, putting greens, and a practice bunker. [top]

Gillespie County Fairgrounds

Located in Fredericksburg, Texas, the Gillespie County Fairgrounds is where you’ll find the Gillespie Country Fair, the oldest, continuously running county fair in the Lone Star State. Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza

Anyone old enough to remember the assassination of American President John F. Kennedy in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963 will never forget it.
