St. Croix National Scenic Riverway

The St. Croix National Scenic Riverway protects 252 miles of rivers, including the St. Croix River on the Wisconsin/Minnesota border and Wisconsin’s Namekagon River. The upper St. Croix is a renowned smallmouth bass fishery. Other riverway fish include walley, sturgeon, catfish, and northern pike while the Namekagon River is known for trout. Besides fishing, the riverway is great for canoeing, tubing, boating, and camping.  [top]

Siren National Golf Course

Since 2001, Siren National has been a favorite of golfers both locally and nationally. A well-maintained 18-hole, par-72 championship course Siren National features bentgrass fairways and greens. Many bunkers and water hazards will keep you alert. The course also features a driving range, practice green, a pro shop, and snack bar.  [top]

Governor Knowles State Forest

Located near Siren, Wisconsin, Governor Knowles State Forest is 55 miles long and two miles wide, covering 32,500 acres. Nearby are county forests along with Fish Lake Wildlife Area and Crex Meadow Wildlife Area. Take a canoe ride up the St. Croix River and enjoy the scenic countryside plus the geologic formations that were created courtesy of two ice ages.  [top]

Forts Folle Avion Historic Park

Nestled on 80 acres along the Yellow River near Danbury, Wisconsin, Forts Folle Avoine Historical Park is a fascinating attraction the whole family will enjoy. A living history site, the park boasts fur trade posts that were reconstructed on the same spot where the original posts were in operation way back in 1802. Wild Mountain & Taylors Falls Recreation Area

Amsterdam Sloughs State Wildlife Area

Amsterdam Sloughs Wildlife Area, which is located just north of Siren, Wisconsin, is a stunning 6,138-acre property that overflows with marshes, swamps, and forests. Bird watching is very popular, especially at Black Brook Flowage where great blue herons, bald eagles, and osprey are commonly sighted.  [top]

Gandy Dancer Trail

This 98-mile recreational trail traverses an old railroad grade that was used commercially for 100 years starting in the 1880s. The state of Wisconsin bought the land and turned it into the Grady Dancer Trail. The name comes from crews who built and maintained the tracks. They used hand tools made by the Gandy Tool Company in Chicago. Often they would synchronize the swinging of their tools with the movement of their feet, hence the moniker “Gandy Dancer.”  [top]
