Sybille Wildlife Research & Conservation Education Unit
The Sybille Wildlife Research & Conservation Education Unit is a leading Wyoming wildlife research facility. Studies include such wildlife diseases as pneumonia in bighorn sheep, endangered species capture and propagation, nutrition, and genetics. Since 1972, Sybille has contributed more than 170 research projects to conservation. [top]
Greyrocks Reservoir
The 3,500 acre Greyrocks Reservoir is home to many species of ducks, pheasants, doves, and wild turkey. In addition, you’ll discover cottontail rabbits, mule deer, white-tailed deer, and pronghorn antelope. The reservoir is filled with big walleyes so bring your rod and reel when you visit. Other activities include boating, swimming, water skiing, and camping. [top]
Fort Laramie National Historic Site
During the California Gold Rush of 1849, Fort Laramie became a military post. In 1876, it served as a base for military operations, logistics, and communication during a war with the Sioux Indian tribe. Visitors can learn more about Fort Laramie’s past by taking a walking tour, which features many historic buildings. [top]
Laramie Mountains
The Laramie Mountains are a range of medium-high peaks on the eastern edge of the Rocky Mountains in Wyoming and Colorado. The gap between the Laramie range and the Bighorn Mountains provided the route for several historical trails, including the Oregon and Mormon Trails. One of the paths was taken by the short-lived Pony Express. [top]
Missouri Basin Power Project
The Missouri Basin Power Project is a group of six regional, consumer-owned energy organizations that teamed up to plan and build the Laramie River Station, which represents one of the largest consumer-owned regional joint power supply programs in the United States.
